Morzine is a traditional Alpine village that has developed into a major winter sports and summer resort whilst retaining its Alpine charm! The Pleney cable car opened in 1934 and Morzine has remained amongst France's premier winter sports resorts ever since.

Morzine is dominated by attractive Chalets spread across a river gorge, bordered by wooded slopes. It lies at the centre of the Portes du Soleil region which is the largest linked ski area in the world spanning the French - Swiss border. The Portes du Soleil has 850km of marked pistes serviced by over 200 lifts. The area has a balance of blue, red and black runs and some challenging off piste routes including the notorious 'Swiss Wall', making it well suited to all standards of skier. Avoriaz which lies above Morzine is easily accessed by a choice of lifts, ensuring that high altitude skiing is readily available.

In summer Morzine transforms itself into a world renowned centre for mountain biking. Morzine has hosted Tour de France stages on several occasions and is an ideal base for any road cyclists wishing to experience testing mountain passes such as the classic Tour de France climb up the Col de Joux Plane.

There are many other summer activities including white water rafting down the river Dranse to Lake Geneva, walking, hiking, tennis and golf.

The Morzine valley provides excellent conditions for parapenting, which is an all year round activity.
